Terms of Use

Acceptance of terms
By using ECLA (“the Service”), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What ECLA provides
ECLA provides informational tools to help UK households make more sustainable choices. Tool outputs — including carbon estimates, product recommendations, sustainability scores, and declutter guidance — are estimates and suggestions only. They are not professional advice of any kind (financial, medical, legal, or environmental consulting).
Allergen disclaimer
The Allergen-Free Finder tool filters products based on declared ingredient information in our database. This is not a substitute for reading the current product label. Product formulations change without notice, and our database may not reflect the most recent version of a product’s ingredients.
If you have a severe, life-threatening allergy or anaphylaxis risk, always read the label and consult your doctor or dietitian before using any product. ECLA accepts no liability for allergic reactions arising from use of the Allergen-Free Finder.
Carbon estimates
Carbon footprint figures are indicative estimates based on published UK government emission factors (DEFRA) and the Committee on Climate Change’s consumption-based model. They are not certified carbon accounts. For formal carbon accounting, consult a certified carbon accountant.
Product accuracy
ECLA verifies products against a set of eco criteria and checks stock availability. Products are excluded if not verified within 60 days. Despite our efforts, product availability, pricing, and eco credentials may have changed since our last verification. Always check the retailer’s site for current information before purchasing.
Affiliate links
Some product links on ECLA are affiliate links. When you click through and make a purchase, ECLA may receive a small commission. This does not affect the price you pay. See our Partnerships page for more detail. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products appear in our database — all products are included based on eco criteria, not commercial arrangements.
Intellectual property
The ECLA name, logo, and site content are our property. You may not reproduce or redistribute content from ECLA without permission.
No warranties
The Service is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that results will be accurate for your specific circumstances.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ECLA shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use automated scripts or bots to query the tools at scale
- Attempt to circumvent rate limits or security controls
- Use the Service for commercial resale without permission
- Submit content designed to manipulate or inject into AI prompts
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
