Partnerships & Affiliates

How ECLA earns revenue and how we keep recommendations honest.

How ECLA makes money

ECLA is free to use. We keep it that way partly through affiliate commissions: when you click a product link on ECLA and make a purchase, we may receive a small percentage of the sale from the retailer. This is called an affiliate commission. The price you pay is never affected.

Affiliate programmes we participate in include Amazon Associates and direct arrangements with eco-focused UK retailers. All affiliate relationships are disclosed in line with ASA and CMA guidelines.

Our editorial independence policy

Affiliate arrangements do not determine which products appear in the ECLA database. Every product is assessed against the same eco criteria regardless of whether an affiliate programme exists. Products from brands with which we have commercial arrangements are marked so you can identify them, but are included or excluded on their merits alone.

If a product no longer meets our criteria (lapsed certification, out of stock, greenwashing complaint upheld), it is removed regardless of any affiliate relationship.

Sponsored content

Occasionally we may publish sponsored content or work with eco brands on promotional placements. Any sponsored content will be clearly labelled as such and will not appear within tool results.

Brand partnerships and product submissions

If you represent an eco brand and would like your products considered for inclusion in the ECLA database, you can submit them for review. Inclusion is subject to the same verification criteria as all other products — having a commercial relationship with ECLA does not guarantee inclusion.

Transparency

We believe transparency about how we earn money is fundamental to being a trusted resource. If you ever notice a product recommendation that seems commercially motivated rather than editorially justified, please let us know at feedback@ecla.uk.
